Weebly Help Page

  1. What is Weebly?
    1. Weebly is a website for creating personal and professional websites and blogs
    2. It can be used to create classroom and teacher websites and blogs
    3. You can use Weebly to keep your students and parents up to date
    4. You can use Weebly for free, or pay to upgrade to Weebly Pro for $4.58 a month, $47.88 per year, or $71.80 for two years
  2. Application to Future Teaching:
    1.  This website can be used to post notes for students.
    2. There is also a blog page option. You could use this to have students answer questions, respond with something they learned that day, or any number  of things.
    3. Create a user ID and password that you can give to students. Then have each student create their own page for a project.
    4. Have specific days for each student to take notes for students who are absent, then have a notes page for the students to type their notes.
  3. Rescources for Future Learning:
    1. After signing up you will receive emails for the first week with step-by-step tutorials and videos on how to use different parts of Weebly.
    2. Tutorial

    5.  Using Weebly for Education to Create Classroom Websites and Student Blogs

    6.  Weebly and Webs Are Two of the Best Free Website Builders
      1. http://www.suite101.com/content/website-builder-review-weebly-and-webs-a178927
  4. Student Learning and Interaction
    1. As a teacher you can link activities to your website for students to use for extra learning
    2. Students could come to your class website to find assignment information, grades, notes, extra learning, whatever you put on your page.
    3. Students could also learn how to set up their own website by using a class website and making changes or adding things, or by creating their own for a project.
    4. Students could keep a blog about something they found interesting each day of class, then other students could post comments on their blog, and vice versa.
  5. How does it Add Value to the Classroom?
    1. Students would be responsible for checking their own grades and for any missing assignments.
    2. Students would be responsible for keeping track of any assignments they missed when absent, and emailing the teacher for information they missed.
    3. By having older students keep notes they would be more involved in the class, and having them post the notes online would make them responsible for other students learning the material.
    4. Keeping the standards you are learning accessible for students would let them know what they should be learning, and why.
    5. Putting online activities, videos, notes, and other learning experiences on your website would help students to be more engaged in their learning. It would also help the teacher to be more prepared for class by having additional experiences easily accessible during their lesson.

It was really cool to see what you can do with weebly. The most interesting thing was the different things that you can add like the word searches and games and the fact that you can make things available later. I wonder if you can have a certain design and then change the colors of the page?

I think it's awesome that anyone can make a webpage. This site is cool, because it's so easy to use, and it has so many features. I'm excited to make my teacher website now :)

I wonder what the features are like when you actually pay for a subscription.

I absolutely loved this presentation...I will be sure to use this tool as a classroom teacher!!!
I wonder if the website will eventually change their mind about allowing people to sign up for free

I really enjoyed your miniteach, this program is the perfect assistant to making a website that can benefit and enhance your teaching capabilities! I also enjoyed learning about how you can place links (i.e. youtube) to the page. No questions, everything was answered!

I thought this was a really cool presentation! I had no idea creating a website could be this easy! I also saw creating a website as a chore but this site made it seem fun! I think, especially for older students and parents, this will be a great tool to utilize. Thank you for sharing this with us!
